Larva Mortus
      (Rake In Grass)
Larva Mortus is a top down action shooter game.  This isn't just another action game though, there are some entertaining Lite Role Playing elements that are thrown in for good measure, such as gaining experience points, leveling up your character and enhancing your attributes.

The game takes place in a gothic 19th Century setting.  Players can expect to encounter classic creatures of the night while attempting to complete quests or missions for a secret organization known only as "The Agency", which deals with all kinds of Paranormal and Supernatural evil.  You'll encounter Zombies, Werewolves, Vampires and many more unearthly creatures.

Larva Mortus uses an intuitive and familiar control scheme.  Players need only use the WASD keys for movement while using the mouse for aiming, shooting, and swapping weapons.  This makes Larva Mortus an easy game to get into, play, and enjoy.

Graphically, Larva Mortus looks very good but more importantly has graphics that create a great atmosphere for a gothic horror action game.  There are also some interesting comicbook style cutscenes to entertain the player.  Perhaps the most interesting thing going on with the graphics though are the moments when you're playing through a mansion, forest, dungeon, or graveyard and wierd things start happening.  Scary images start popping up out of nowhere adding creepiness and chilling gameplay to good affect.  There are numerous enemies that look and behave differently as well and they look and animate very well.
The sound and music are also atmospheric.  There's a dark foreboding tone to the sound track that adds a little intensity to the action.  The sound fx are pretty sharp as well.  You'll probably hear the sound of your gun reloading more than anything else but it never gets dull because frankly you have little time to think about anything but survival.
Larva Mortus is a great action horror game with some accommodating RPG elements that make the experience rewarding and deep.  The atmosphere is excellent and even if it didn't have a gothic theme it would probably still be a great action game.  The theme just adds to the tension of everything that's going on and creates an original atmosphere for the game type.  This is a simple game to pick up and get into making it a hard game to put down and stop playing.  Casual gamers will also find a lot of fun to be had because each level only lasts a few minutes but there are quite a few missions and side quests you can take part in adding to the games overall value even encouraging multiple playthrus.  Action / RPG fans and gamers with a craving for anything goth or survival horror related should check this indie game out.
