2D Space MMO is a fresh new Massively Multiplayer Online game that is being developed by Paul Firth. In case you haven’t figured out by the headline yet, 2D Space MMO is an Asteroid style clone with a plethora of updated features added, and a heavy focus on team-based online multiplayer gameplay. Not only is it a fun idea, but Paul has been working on the game for the past 6 months and he has developed a pre-alpha tech demo which is playable by the general public. You can try the game out by going to Paul’s website, mmoasteroids.wildbunny.co.uk. Paul has also started one of the UK’s first Kickstarter campaigns, in hopes of upgrading 2D Space MMO and developing it to it’s full potential.

Obviously this isn’t just your daddy’s Asteroids game, but it looks like a heckuva lot more fun. Players will have objectives, go on quests, participate in team battles, mine asteroids, refine ore, purchase upgrades, and much more. The gameplay is incredibly intuitive, but more importantly, it’s a whole lot of fun!
Head over to the 2D Space MMO website for more detailed info about the game and while you’re there be sure and play the free browser based demo. Be warned though, the gameplay is extremely addictive. If you like what you see and would love to see the game fully fleshed out with even more gameplay, enhanced features, and updated graphics and sound, then be sure to support the game through the 2D Space MMO Kickstarter Campaign.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to mine more ore and blast anyone who gets in my way!
